While traveling through Madrid we happened upon a group of street artists sketching, drawing, and coloring various portraits. I immediately seized the opportunity to photograph the artists in action but as soon as I did they began packing up and most of the artists left the area. One of the artists noticed me photographing them as they were packing up and said that now that I have taken a photograph of him that I should pose for him to sketch me, an artist to artist deal. As we began to share stories I immediately felt the warm, genuine kindness of the two remaining artists and couldn't leave the situation even with other priorities in mind. Im finding it to be a regular scenario that interacting with people in Spain is an incredibly warm experience that often has me lose track of time as I am so immersed in the conversation, regardless of my predetermined priorities. The friends I have made here are new, but somehow it feels as though I were talking to an old friend.
