Day 6 - Delicious and Nutritious

The food in Spain has been very fresh and full of natural taste. Artificial flavors and preservatives seem to be rare and I find myself eating less but feeling fuller and more satisfied compared to my regular western diet. A lot of the food is locally grown and picked when ripe compared to being picked early just to survive long shipping times. This allows local food to be packed with nutrients and flavor as well as a great source of long lasting energy. I was surprised to find out that tortillas here are sort of a potato omelet, living in America I was expecting the Mexican version aka flat round bread usually rolled into tacos/burritos. I also find it interesting that sweets and alcoholic beverages are relatively common to eat early and throughout the day like a serving of chorizos and beer first thing in the morning. I love the fact that siesta is incorporated in the lifestyle because it allows more time to properly eat and digest food and if you are not hungry you can instead take a nap or meditate.
